Join us for a special ceremony to break ground on a new bathhouse, made possible by the Waccamaw Community Foundation and Knight Foundation Fund. The new bathhouse will replace the tribe’s reliance on rented portable toilets, providing accessible restrooms, showers, and improved sanitation for thousands of visitors each year.

This month’s open meeting is a great opportunity for the public and our members to keep up with our ongoing projects. Tribal members who did not receive a link and wish to attend need to contact Michelle at [email protected] to update their information.
10/4: Longhouse Workday

We will be pulling the logs out of the pond and start crafting the roof. If time permits, thatching will also be applied to the roof and upper matting to the sides.
10/9: WIP Pauwau Committee Meeting

10/29: WIP Pauwau Setup Day
Location: WIP Tribal Grounds | Time: 7:30 am. - until |
It's time to prepare for the annual pauwau! We'll be setting up the dance circle with hay bales and getting everything else ready for the big celebration. All volunteers are welcome, and anyone leading specific areas should be present to get organized and check for their needed supplies.
10/30-31 WIP School Days
Location: WIP Tribal Grounds | Time: 9:00 am - until |
Students and teachers from home and local schools are invited to an immersive and educational experience on the pauwau grounds. They will learn about traditional skills like trap-making and crafting in one circle, while another area will feature storytelling, survival skills, and interactive dance demonstrations. This two-day event provides a fun and enriching look into Waccamaw culture. Schools and parents who have not been contacted should send Susan a message at [email protected].
